Virtual School Program
Classroom Curriculum
Welcome to our virtual fire safety and injury prevention classrooms. As an alternative to our in-person visits, we have created Safety Classrooms for Kindergarten, first and second grades. The same VRFA firefighters who visit your schools are featured in the videos teaching the same curriculum as the in-person visits. We hope to see you again very soon; until then, enjoy our virtual classrooms.
To get started, open the Google slide presentation related to the grade level of your choice. Once the presentation is open within your web browser, press the ‘Present’ button to start the slide show. Use your curser to navigate through the curriculum. Each slide will have additional directions.
When you are done, we would love to hear about your experience through the form below.
Kindergarten
This lesson introduces children to friendly firefighters and fire safety basics like smoke alarms, Stop, Drop, & Roll, and other age-appropriate safety lessons.
1st Grade
First graders learn how to create a home escape plan and how to practice their plan. They also learn why it is important to practice their home escape plan with everyone living in their home.
2nd Grade
In this classroom, second graders visit Camp No Owie. First, they learn how to travel to camp in a car safely. Once they arrive at camp, they learn how to stay safe during fun activities like riding a bike, playing on the water, and enjoying a campfire.
We want to hear from you!
We would love to hear about your experience going through the VFRA Virtual School Program.
